Block number/name: F-8 “Church Window”
Date completed: May 28, 2010
Number of pieces: 37
Notes on block: I’m not in love with this block. I’m not sure if it is the fabric I chose or maybe those funky parallelograms in the outside border that just look funky to me. But it is done, and that alone is enough to make me happy.
As I was stitching this one, Keith commented that this must be the most complicated block ever because it was taking so long. I found that rather amusing as it is so not true! I suspect it was because he was holding the baby in his arms the entire time I stitched, making it seem that much longer. :)

Handmade goodness
My baby boy has been the recipient of some beautiful handmade gifts. They're so lovely and special, I just have to share...
From the talented and generous Carrie P.:
How cute are those??? We aren't quite ready for the bibs yet, but those burp cloths have already seen a lot of action.
From one of the amazing moms at my older son's preschool:
What a blanket! It is truly just beautiful. It is a great size, and I love the little ties she included-- it rolls up quite nicely for easy transport.
And from my best friend:
She knitted this gorgeous blanket. When I opened it up, I was truly speechless.
And there he is, up close and personal. Such a cutie! (Ahem. No bias here, of course!)
It just makes me feel so proud and happy and special that these talented people took time out to make something for my son. I'm truly blessed to have such amazing friends.

Jane Stickle Quilt: J-12
Block number/name: J-12 “Rebecca’s Basket”
Date completed: May 16, 2010
Number of pieces: 9
Notes on block: I followed Anina’s tutorial for the basket handle on this one. As I was doing it, I was skeptical—but it ended up working really quite well! And it went along very quickly too. Woo hoo!

Jane Stickle Quilt: K-3
Block number/name: K-3 “Seven Sisters”
Date completed: May 12, 2010
Number of pieces: 29
Notes on block: This nice simple block was perfect for my sleep-deprived self. Stitching is definitely not fast for me lately as a certain little one demands to eat pretty often. But it is nice to actually be able to take a little time to do it, even if it is just in small pockets of time.
Also-- many thank yous for all of your wonderful baby well-wishes! I'm sorry I didn't respond to all of them (I'm afraid we were a little overwhelmed there for a bit!), but they really meant a lot to me. Y'all are the best!

Jane Stickle Quilt: LS-13
Block number/name: LS-13 “Watermelon”
Date completed: May 10, 2010
Number of pieces: 22
Notes on block: My first bit of sewing since Flynn was born two weeks ago! It felt nice to do some stitching again. Yesterday was Mother’s Day, and the boys gave me a gift certificate to Keepsake Cottage Fabrics. I think I may use it to invest in a new Clover mini-iron. Mine has bit the dust. I was lucky not to scorch my fingers when trying to prep these melons with the big iron!
My older son also made me a super Mother’s Day gift at preschool. The picture is from a field trip we took in January to the Redmond Fire Department. And he painted the little heart! (Since he rarely goes into the art room at preschool, this is quite a special thing!)
The little one continues to eat like a champ (and is even starting to do some sleeping at night now!). He’s a beautiful little boy, and I’m so grateful that he has become part of our family. We are so blessed to have two wonderful boys!
